Finance minister Mthuli Ncube says Sinopharm vaccines from China are a silver bullet in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

Addressing the media, Ncube said the government’s strategy is in saving life and livelihoods first thus “the vaccine is a silver bullet in dealing a blow on the pandemic”.

Zimbabwe has received its first COVID-19 vaccines with the arrival early Monday of the Air Zimbabwe jet carrying 200,000 Sinopharm doses from China.

Mthuli thanked the republic of China for availing the vaccine to Zimbabwe in an effort to mitigate the virus.

The minister revealed that next month, the country will be acquiring additional vaccines from China as the government heads towards acquiring the target of 1,8 million and carry on until everyone is vaccinated.
