Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has thanked Russia and China for the donated vaccines.

In a post on social media, Mnangagwa said the vaccines will help the country return to normality.

He said life will return to normal once the majority of Zimbabweans have been vaccinated.

“This is the ultimate goal. Thank you to both China and Russia for their donation of COVID-19 vaccines to the people of Zimbabwe. Your generosity during this dark time will not be forgotten”, he wrote.

Russia and China approached Zimbabwe about supplying vaccines to tackle its escalating Covid-19 outbreak.

This was proposed because  of amid concern about Harare’s ability to afford the shots, with plans for meetings with business leaders who have offered to pay for them.
