UN Slams Attacks on Civilians in the Central African Republic

The Secretary General for United Nations, Antonio Guterres says he is concerned about recent armed clashes and threats to civilians in the Central African Republic.

The concern by the Secretary General comes following the loss of human lives and the force displacement of over 200, 000 persons.

In a press statement by Stephane Dujaric, the spokesperson for the Secretary General, the United Nations strongly condemns the violence which is happening at a time when the country is also facing Covid-19.

However, Secretary General has also urged the Central African Authorities to initiate a meaningful and inclusive political dialogue with the political opposition and armed groups that have renounced violence to de-escalate tensions and revitalize the peace process.
