Uganda’s opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known with his stage name as Bobi Wine filed a petition challenging poll results yesterday.
Bobi Wine disputed the 14 January Presidential elections as fraudulent after the electoral commision declared incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni winner of the polls.
Museveni won the polls with 58% and Bobi wine came second with 35%.
Soon after the elections Bobi Wine was put under house arrest for 11 days as the military argued that they were protecting him.
Through his lawyers, Wine said the elections were dominated by violence and many of his supporters were tortured, detained.
In November 2020, over 50 people were killed after Bobi Wine was arrested for breaking covid-19 regulations.
