U.S defense officials say they are worried about an insider attack or threat from service members involved in securing newly elected president Joe Bidden’s inauguration.

More than 20 000 national guards troops have been tasked to come to Washington for the event.

In an Interview with Associated Press on sunday, Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said officials are conscious of the potentiao threat, and he warned commmanders to be on the lookout for any problems within their ranks as the inauguration approaches.

“We’re continualky going through the process, and taking second, third looks at everyine of the individuals assigned to this operation,” added McCarthy.

The move to deploy more soldiers is due to extraordinary security concerns that have gripped Washington following the deadly January 6 insurrection at the U.S Capitol by pro-Trump rioters.
