Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni is reportedly to have taken an early lead in the presidential preliminary released on Friday morning by the electoral commision.

According to a Tweet by Reuters, with 13.6% of votes counted, Museveni had won 1, 536, 205 votes or 65.0% while main opposition candidate Bobi Wine had 647,146 (27.4%).

Meanwhile, results circulating on social media are showing Bobi Wine dominating Museveni in most polling centres.

However, speaking on Live Tv soon after the polls, Simon Byabakama the head of electoral commision of Uganda said the board will not use local internet to transmit results.

“We are not using local internet to transmit our results, we are using our won system, Don’t worry, results will come,” said Simon.
