South African Home Affairs portfolio commitee says it is dismayed by the situation at Lebombo border post as hundreds of people continue to cross illegal to South Africa from Mozambique.
Atleast 39 people have been arrested for illegal crossing and they are waiting to be deported by end of the day.
One of the illegal travellers said the situation at the border is very difficult as he does not have a passport and to make matters worse the South African government closed its borders.
However, the Portfolio and South African Defense Forces (SANDF) are scheduled to visit the border in order to tackle illegal crossings at the border.
On Monday evening, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the National Corona Virus Command Council had resolved to close the land ports following major congestion at a number of border posts, including Lebombo and Beitbridge.
