Zimbabwean award winning journalist Hopewell Chinono says he will continue with his work and expose corruption.

Chinóno told Newzroom Africa that in the past 6 months he has been arrested twice for claims of inciting violence and obstructing violence.

He said he was granted bail by the high court after being denied bail by the Magistrates Court.

He said  he is not worried about getting arrested but he is worried about the leaders of the country looting funds at the expense of suffering communities.

“I have decided that I’m doing the right thing. I’m doing what a journalist is meant to do. If the state decides to continue persecute me, then so be it,” he said.

Furthermore the journalist said that it is not easy in Zimbabwe to practice journalism without the fear of being clamped down by the state.

He added that the state is persecuting big journalist like him to instill fear of reporting critical issues on junior journalist.
