Michael Banana, Son of Zimbabwe’s first President, Canaan Banana has died.
Michael was based in the UK after seeking asylum in 2000.
Ezra Tshisa Sibanda confirmed the passing on of Michael .
“Im am deeply saddened and shocked by the sudden death of Michael Banana in Liverpool, UK today. It is reported that he just collapsed ans died, this is unbelievable and so painful. My heart goes to his family and MHDSRIP,” he said.
Canaan Banana served as the first Zimbabwe’s president from 1980-1987. He was also the Zimbabwe’s first head of state after the Lancaster House agreement that led to the country’s independence
