The Zimbabwe government plans to build a A new town at Batoka, the minister of information, Monica Mutsvangwa has announced.
Mutsvangwa said a new town anchored on power generation will be created at Batoka once the legal processes have been completed. Layout plans for Binga are being prepared.
The Batoka town will form part of the Victoria falls, Hwange, Binga special economic zone which was approved in October 2020. A committe comprising the Minister of Public Works, Minister of Tourism and The CEO of ZIDA was directed to come up with an implementation matrix.
Mutsvangwa said the committee has since identified a consortium prepare a visual blueprint for the area.
The Victoria Falls municipality will be upgraded to city status.
