Zimbabwe police on Sunday issued a statement clearing Zimbabwe first lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa, of any role in Henrietta Rushwaya’s gold smuggling case.
In a statement issued on twitter, police said thorough investigation have revealed that Karanda’s allegations are false.
However, the police did not say what investigation were carried out and did not state whether they interviewed the parties who were implicated or not.
Police also could have issued a statement before the first lady issued her statement.
They could have held a press conference and allowed journalists to ask questions.
The approach by Police has therefore cast further doubt on the first lady ‘s involvement and has made the situation worse.
