Impala platinum (Implats) this week announced a 240% increase in group profits for the year ended June 2020 from R6.8 Billion to R23.3 Billion.

Implats has mines in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Canada which employ over 50 000 people.

A 46% increase in world prices of Platinum Group Minerals (PGM), which includes Rhodium and Palladium contributed to the excellent performance.

Impala has reversed plans to close several mines in Rustenburg and job cuts have been put on  hold.

Impala is also increasing processing capacity in Zimbabwe.
