Award winning Zimbabwe journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono was defiant on release from Chikurubi maximum prsion last night.

Chin’omo told journalist that the world knows that he was arrested and detained for 43 days for exposing corruption and not for inciting violence.

Chin’ono said corruption is a cancer which has resulted in a failed prison system. Asked by journalists if he was going to write a book, Chin’ono said he is thinking about it but will be starting with newspaper articles.

Chin’ono, who was flanked by Transform Zimbabwe leader, Jacob Ngarivhume, thanked the international community for standing by him when he was incarcerated for 43 days.

Chin’ono said the prison system in Zimbabwe is so bad that he had to buy his own jersey. He said inmates have no water, medicines and food.
