Popular Mali Muslim cleric, immam Mahmoud Dicko, has expressed his continued support for the military leaders who took over form former president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.

However, he told Media that he is not a President in waiting. Dicko said his support for the coup did not mean he will allow the soldiers to run Mali.

The Saudi trained Dicko previous backed former President, Keita, until they fell out in 2017.

Dicko led the opposition coalition that staged protests against Keita since March until the military forces Keita to resign on August 18.

Dicko is widely respected across the board as someone who wants a genuine solution in Mali.
