South Africa former Public Protector and founder of The Thuma Foundation Advocate Thuli Madonsela says the Zimbabwean government needs to be called to account for the human rights violations against ZANU PF critics.

This comes after a number of people have been arrested on charges that they were inciting public violence following the 31 July national protest.

In an interview with SABC, Madonsela said, it is strange and unacceptable that a number of activists, are arrested in Zimbabwe for voicing disagreements with the government.

Madonsela said Emmerson Mnangagwa needs to explain his government’s actions to regional leaders.

She added that Mnangagwa needs to come together with the opposition and discuss how the country should be run freely and fairly.
