Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe says Police and Army will heavily descend on any unlawful activity on the 31st of July.

Addressing a press briefing in Harare this Wednesday, Kazembe said the state security forces will not hesitate to attack anyone attempting to unconstitutionally remove the current regime.

Kazembe warned citizens who will venture into the streets to protest on 31 July against a ban of such activities that they will be met by the full wrath of the law.

Kazembe Kazembe said the planned anti-corruption citizen protests remain banned and members of the public should continue with their normal activities.

“The government wishes to let the people of Zimbabwe know that the intended reckless ‘demonstrations’ of 31 July 2020 are banned and that the people should continue to enjoy their peace and security on the day”, he said.

Kazembe added that the Government rejects that 31 July is about anti-corruption or about other well-meant intention thus it has already demonstrated its unflinching commitment to fight against corruption.

He said that the planned national protest is a criminal enterprise whose true intention has nothing to do with various problems in the country but to further the opposition long held wish to overthrow a legitimately elected.

Kazembe said 31 July is a planned insurrection and a naked, illegal and unconstitutional attempt to seize power. It is about the MDC Alliance attempting to seize power and violently overturn the people’s verdict of 31 July 2018.

Kazembe said with the help of various online media platforms created by MDC A activists, journalists and other individuals the opposition deploys most of its energy in creating fake news meant to cause disunity in the government’s top leadership.

Kazembe said anyone who disregards this warning and proceeds to join the planned insurrection to steal power will be met by the full wrath of the law.
