The South African Western Cape police are on high alert following threats of violent protests in the Cape Metro.

The Cape Coloured People’s Congress said it plans to shutdown operations today in protest against poor service delivery in coloured communities.

City authorities say constantly reprioritising policing resources is negatively impacting service delivery.

Protests have been going on in Capetown  that have led to 30 arrests and the Cape Coloured People’s Congress have made threats to disrupt traffic along the N1, N2, the R300 and the N7 highway.
