ZPP Communications Director, Vimbai Chiwuswa, have revealed that theyinitially approached Mnangagwa and Chamisa with various ideas but got no response. At that time, Vimbai said they were working under an organisation called Zimbabwe Diaspora Engagement Network.
Vimbai said Zimbabwe Embassy Officials in Germany had demanded upfront payment before meeting with ZDEN and only talked to her after the intervention of the foreign affairs minister, Sibusiso Moyo.
Vimbai said when approached, Chamisa did not respond at all. Tendai Biti had told her that she must ask the Zimbabwe government to
Vimbai said sanctions on Zimbabwe will not be lifted as long as Zimbabwe has not returned the land. She said it is therefore necessary to focus on internal solutions and improve local production instead of wasting resources trying to get the sanctions removed.
On compensation of former commercial farmers, Vimbai says it is not good use of money to spend $3,5 Billion on compensation.
Vimbai said corruption is a big issue in Zimbabwe and is contributing to the lack of development in Zimbabwe.
On election rigging, Vimbai said the biggest problem in Zimbabwe is the low registration rates by urban voters.
Vote rigging can be challened in court, however, in the last elections, the MDC Alliance did not keep sufficient evidence when they filed their petition at the constitutional court.
It is therefore important for the opposition to be more organised so that when the need arises they can win in court, the same way that Malawi opposition parties did.
On missing activists like Itai Dzamara, Vimbai said the reason why abductions happen is because people like Dzamara lack support from the community.
Vimbai said when Dzamara was demonstrating, there was no one to offer him support.
