One Zimbabwean, Oscar Hodzi Gurure, is confirmed dead, while another, Ronald Mtetwa is missing in Mozambique after their convoy was attacked by Islamic Insurgents in Mocimboa Da Pria, in the province of Cabo Delgado Mozambique on Friday 20 June 2020.

Gambakwe Media Sources reported that at least 11 people were killed in the ambush and local villagers were forced to bury their bodies at the scene of the attacks. The bodies have not yet been exhumed as the rebels are still in the area.

At least 6 of the people who were killed were employees of the company Fenix while some are employees of Annadago.

Circumstances surrounding the ambush are that employees were supposed to go away on Rest and Recuperation breaks. A plane would have been made available after a 14 day period of quarantine to take employees to Pemba. However, some employees chose to leave immediately by road.
