The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union has called for all teachers to strike starting on Monday the 22nd of June on reasons of government not being transparent about the Covid 19 funds meant for Teachers Allowances.

Speaking in a Press Conference ZCTU said that they will not tolerate ZANU PF feeding their families and turning their children into millionaires with funds meant for teachers.

ZCTU says they are not calling for a Mass Action for themselves as an organisation but for the teacher’s families who will suffer under an unfair government.

This comes after The Zimbabwean government through the ministry of Finance decided to pay civil servants in US Dollars starting end of June this month as Covid 19 allowance.

The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions is the primary trade union federation in Zimbabwe. The general secretary of ZCTU is Wellington Chibebe and the president is Lovemore Matombo.
