Edcon group, the company that owns Edgars and Jet says it has signed 22 000 retrenchment letters for their employees after losing a lot of revenue since Covid 19 lockdown.
Edcon says they have lost more than 2 billion sales because of the Covid 19 Lockdown and they have since put up the company on auction but no one has yet made them an offer.
The company have over 17 000 permanent workers and more than 5 000 seasonal workers and as it stands it seems most of them are going to lose their jobs.
Edcon however have promised their workers that they will be transferred to the potential new company that will buy Edcon.
