ED Mnangagwa met members of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) on Thursday to discuss measures and programmes being implemented by the government to mitigate the impact of Covid-19.

Mnangagwa said indications are that local transmissions have been contained by the national lockdown, however the current spike in cases is attributed to imported cases mostly by returnees.

“A number of Zimbabweans across the globe are returning home following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, hence an increase in the number of cases.

“The Government established an Ad-hoc Inter-Ministerial Taskforce on Covid-19 chaired by Vice President Kembo Mohadi which reports weekly on the state of the pandemic.

“In addition, the task force itself has established eight-member sub-committees to assist it in the execution of its duties as tabulated in its terms of reference,” Mnangagwa said.
