The late former president of MDC Morgan Tsvangirai suspended the then deputy treasurer-general Charlton Hwende on allegations of inciting intra party violence.
Hwende was suspended for failing to act according to the party’ values, following disturbances that took place at the party’s Bulawayo provincial office in August 2017.
This happened a week after the MDC Alliance Agreement was signed.
Present at the meeting was Chamisa, Komichi and Mudzuri. In this meeting, Tsvangirai also apologized to Khuphe for the violence in Bulawayo. Tsvangirai fell short of naming the person behind the group that went to attack Khuphe in Bulawayo.
Hwende was reportedly involved in funding the group that went to Bulawayo to assault of MDC-T vice president Thokozani Khupe by some party supporters after a fall out over the MDC Alliance.
