The High Court has provisionally ordered the Ministry of Justice Ziyambi Ziyambi to pay ZW$7.5 million due to the MDC Alliance only under the Political Parties Finances Act within seven days.

Justice Munangati-Manongwa on Friday granted an interim order sought by the MDC Alliance blocking the disbursement of the money to a faction led by Thokozani Khupe, which has staked a claim for the leadership of the party.

“The 1st (justice minister) and 2nd (finance minister) respondents be and are hereby interdicted, stopped and barred from disbursing the sum of $7,492,500 due to the applicant in terms of the Political Parties (Finance) Act or any other amount thereof, to any party other than the MDC Alliance,” the order said.

The court recognised MDC Alliance legal standing as a political party in Parliament independent however the interim order is yet to be finalised.

‪According to Hopewell Chinono, with everything to do with the corrupt regime, tomorrow a judge can be ordered to reverse the order for political reasons!

‪“It’s an interim order which means the other parties have a chance to respond.‬

‪That is what is going to happen in 10 days time.‬

‪Celebrating the interim order is designed to entrap those who celebrate bcoz then they can’t complain and berate the court when it rules the opposite,” said lawyer Alex Magaisa
