At least 518 Zimbabweans who volunteered to return home have been repatriated from South Africa.

11 buses with deporteesĀ  arrived in Beitbridge at around 1500 hours.

129 are ex- convicts, Mashonaland East has 2 people, Mashonaland Central 4, Mashonaland West 5, Bulawayo 101, Masvingo 100, Midlands 41, Manicaland 69, Mat North 54 and Mat South 64 and Harare 87

Beitbridge Mayor Councillor Morgan Ncube said the returnees will be screened at NSSA former Rainbow hotel before being transported to their respective districts.

“We are happy to note that most of them have been transported to their districts using Zupcos”, he said

More returnees are expected in the country.

Those coming home are funding their transportation to Beitbridge, with the Government providing logistical services, in particular negotiating with bus companies and arranging travel permissions during the South African lockdown.
