Mutare Police raided the Sakubva market around 3 am where over 300 vegetable vendors were selling their products amid the call by ED Mnangagwa to stay at home.

Manicaland spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa said police received a tip off from a concerned citizen around 3 am today.

Upon arrival at the scene vendors fled leaving approximately three tonnes of vegetables which were tgen destroyed by officials from the city council.

Police have been deployed in the city to ensure that people comply with the lockdown directive.

Tavhiringwa appealed to everyone to stay at home and help fight the spread of the Covid-19.
