CAPE TOWN – Refugees who had taken up residence in the Central Methodist Church in Greenmarket Square in Cape Town have been relocated to the marquees.

Police gained entry to the church on Thursday to move the refugees into buses lined up outside the church.

On Tuesday, public works minister Patricia de Lille’s spokesperson announced that a marquee big enough for 600 refugees was being put up at Paint City, in Bellville.

The refugees have since been taken to marquees in Maitland and Bellville.
