THE number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in Zimbabwe has risen to eight, with one confirmed death.

In a statement yesterday, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Dr Agnes Mahomva said out of 47 tests conducted one of these tested positive.

“The ministry would like to report that today (yesterday) the National Microbiological Reference Laboratory tested 47 samples. One of these tested positive for COVID-19″.

The case is of a 21 year old man who came into contact with the third case, a 52years old man with a history of travelling to Dubai.

The man is currently in a stable condition with mild disease.

The ministry added that three who tested positive in Mashonaland East province had already been reported as Harare cases because they had been managed at Wilkins hospital therefore there are eight confirmed cases not ten.

More than 37,000 people have now died as a result of the outbreak while about 750,000 are infected worldwide, with 156,875 people who have recovered.
