Hundreds of Zimbabweans flocked the Zimbabwe-South Africa border travelling back home ahead of the 21-day national lockdown in South Africa.

Zimbabwe nationals had been stuck at the Beitbridge border gate since 10pm Thursday night.

There was congestion as people wanted to cross to their mainland before the border was closed, however at 0000hrs movement between Polokwane and Zimbabwe was cutoff leaving people stranded.

Movement later resumed, with only Zimbabweans returning home being allowed to cross to Zimbabwe.

About 20 trucks were being allowed to cross and be processed at a particular time.
