Zimbabwe Minister of foreign affairs and international trade Sibusiso Moyo said his government is disappointed but not surprised by the renewal of sanctions against Zimbabwe.

In a press statement, Moyo said he strongly disagrees with the assertion that the government has not demonstrated the political will to effect major reforms.

Evidence of reform include,” inter alia in form of the transitional stabilisation programme, the repeal of POSA, the eminent repeal of AIPPA, the eminent licensing of community radio stations, the raft of electoral law reform already endorsed by cabinet and now awaiting formal submission process, the commitment to complete the alignment of all laws to the 2013 constitution”.

Moreover, the Secretary for Information, Nick Mangwana, said the assertion that its security forces engaged in acts of extra-judicial killings and rape against its own citizens last year is false.

“We have embarked on a pathway to reform because it is in the best interest of our nation to do so and it is also necessary to align our policies and programs with our constitution”
