Zimbabwean Politicians, Among them well known G40 and MDC politicians have benefited a great deal from the recent ruling that allowed debtors to pay back money borrowed in USD in RTGS Dollars.

This follows the ruling by the Zimbabwe Supreme Court that USD can be paid back in RTGS Dollars in the Zambezi Gas vs. N. Barber case.

A company owned by Nelson Chamisa and Charlton Hwende owes CBZ $100 000

Statutory Instrument 33 of 2019 (SI 33/2019) was issued in terms of the Presidential Powers (Temporary Measures) Act, which provided for the conversion of the US dollar-denominated assets and liabilities at the fixed rate of one-to-one.

The most affected bank is CBZ, where politicians have been taking money and not paying back. Below is the full list of politicans who owed CBZ who will now only have to pay in RTGS equivalent.
