BROKE: Zimbabwe National Army Owes Masvingo Municipality $12 million debt


Zimbabwe National Army, ZNA, owes Masvingo city council an amount of $12 million in unpaid bills.

ZNA which is amongst the council’s bad debtors and has been failing to pay their bills to the local authority for the past five years.

This has resulted in two of the military institutions 4 and 4.1 brigade owing masvingo an excess of $ 12 million.

Officials at Town House , at Masvingo united residents and rate payers alliance a local residents pressure group have in the past raised a red flag over the none payment of bills and other service charges mainly by government institutions as compromising the smooth flow of Masvingo council’s operations.

Meanwhile the ZNA has paid $6 million to clear part of their debt.

Masvingo city Mayor, Collins Maboke confirmed the development of $6 million pay off from the army and said the payment came as a huge relief.

“We received a payment of $6 million from the army in January and I must say the money came as a relief to us as now we are able to use it for other capital projects which we have been failing to implement.
