Applications are invited to fill in the vacancy of Legal Advisor, which has arisen in a financial services regulatory authority. This is a senior position, where the successful candidate will head the legal function of the entity.

Key responsibilities

Providing legal advice to all operations of the entity to ensure compliance with applicable laws.

Researching on, and reviewing of legislation governing the operations of the entity, to ensure alignment with applicable international standards.

Drafting and/ or reviewing legislation, contracts, MoUs, guidelines, directives, circulars and other legal documents to ensure continued adequacy, relevance and applicability.

Coordinating with stakeholder institutions on legal matters of mutual interest.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

A Laws Degree from a recognised University

Relevant Master’s Degree and Legal drafting qualifications will be an added advantage.

Sound knowledge of the national legislation as well as regional and international instruments and standards governing the combating of financial crime.

At least 10 years relevant experience.

Skills & Competences

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Good analytical and report writing skills.

Good planning and organising skills.

Ability to work under pressure and under self-supervision.

Computer literate.
