The High Court of Zimbabwe has released Charlton Hwende’s passport after nine months of fighting for his freedom.
His passport was seized when he was charged with treason of inciting violence although he was out of the country at the time.
He was arrested at Robert Mugabe Airport in March on his flight from Namibia.Joana Mamombe was also arrested with the same charge whilst in Vumba.
Hwende said he was issued with a diplomatic passport in September last year when he was appointed by SROC of Parliament to be the Chairperson of the ICT Portfolio Committee
This position required him to travel out of the country representing Parliament , but since his passport was seized it he had to pause his business trips.
Charlton Hwende is the MDC General Secretary and Member Of Parliament for Kuwadzana East Constituency
