There is hope for Zimbabwean Special Permit (ZSP) holders living in South Africa. Home affairs minister doctor Aaron Motsoaledi promised to renew permits for Zimbabweans if they expire in 2021.

He made these remarks when he spoke to Groundup after briefing a joint meeting of the portifolio committees on home affairs and co operative Governance.

Motsoaledi told Ground up that the three special permits for Zimbabwe , Lesotho and Angola will be renewed .

He emphasised that Zimbabwean issue needs a cabinet meeting and approval.

Motsoaledi added that Zimbabwe is still experiencing some challenges . ” We can not stop those special permits if the problems that led to those special permits are not yet resolved”

Zimbabweans were allowed to apply for three years Zimbabwe Dispensation Project permits in 2010. After their expiry they were allowed to apply agyain. South Africa is trying to regularise Zimbabweans living in South Africa for the purposes of working, studying or doing business.
