The Speaker of the House of Assembly Jacob Mudenda found himself in a quandary when opposition members protested against his decision to eject an opposition member who wanted to make a point of order.

According to Open Parliament Reports, Mudenda stopped opposition members from taking part in the question and answer segment stating that they can not ask questions of ministers appointed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

He further threatened to invoke section 112 on opposition members who were causing havoc by going against a lawful order.

Job Sikhala and other opposition members blocked police from taking the member out of parliament.

The Parliament reports show that over an hour passed with no debate in the house due to the impasse over the Speaker’s judgement.

Mudenda reportedly exited the parliament living the situation in suspense.
