Political career
Joined Zanu pf at a tender age
Served in the cabinet of Zimbabwe as Minister of Local Government, Public Works and Urban Development from 2000-2015.
Minister of Finance in 2017
Reshuffled to Minister of Home Affairs from 2015–17.
Chombo was nominated as ZANU-PF’s candidate for the House of Assembly seat from Zvimba North, in Mashonaland West, in the March 2008 parliamentary election .
Controversies
As minister of Local government Chombo carried out a vast demolishion of houses caused operation Murambatsvina which left many Zimbabweans homeless
As minister of Finance Chombo allegedly stole more than 1 million US dollars , he has been tried in court.
Fled the country after the November coup in 2017
Was a strong G-40 member and an enemy of Mnangagwa
